Basant kites might lit Lahore skies once again

Punjab Information Minister Fayazul Hasan Chohan has just confirmed that Basant will be celebrated in Lahore this year. However, celebrations must remain within the rules and regulations of kite flying drafted by government for public safety.

Basant will be celebrated in the second week of February, said Fayaz Ul Hassan Chohan while addressing the media on Tuesday.

Since the government of PML-N there was a ban on Basant by the Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif because of the safety of the public.

While answering to a question he said that Basant will be allowed if celebrated within the defined rules. Chohan commented that Court’s decision on this matter said that festival can be celebrated if public safety is not ignored.

The committee formed will define the negative aspects of Basant festival and take measure to correct them. After the committee prepares its report, it will be submitted to the Chief Minister for implementation in the relevant departments.
