Bollywood’s ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ brings up controversy

Mumbai: The Accidental Prime Minister, a film that casts opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and his family in the movies has caused stir just before the elections and before its release on Friday.

The viewers, television programmes and the analyst have said that makers of “The Accidental Prime Minister” for pursuing a political agenda,  while the Gandhi’s party’s spokesperson termed it as “propaganda”.

The mnovie is based on the 2014 book name, this Bollywood movie is termed as chronicle of Manmohan Singh’s ten-year premiership, narrated by his former media advisor Sanjaya Baru.

Manmohan Singh is an eminent economist who has the credit to push country to libertaion in early 1990s and soon through his struggles he became Prime Minister in 2004, after Congress party Sonia Gandhi  led her party victoriously and choose him as the Prime Minister of the India.

Clips from the movie show some scenes where Gandhi is seen telling Mild Manmohan Singh regarding what is best to do, providing him immunity against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party as he stopd out to be the harder than expected opponent.

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s official Twitter handle tweeted a link of the trailer of the upcoming movie and commented it as a “a riveting tale of how a family held the country to ransom for 10 long years.”

Rahul Gandhi’s father, grandmother and great-grandfather were all previously the prime ministers of India, and the BJP shun their dynasty politics.

So far Around 70 million people have seen the Trailer of the movie “The accidental Prime Minister on “YouTube.

In one of the scenes, Singh’s wife is shown asking her forlorn husband: “How much more will the party insult you? Why can’t you say something?

Anupam Kher, is the actor who plays Singh, has been  great advocate of Modi supporter and his wife is a national lawmaker for the BJP. Akshaye Khanna, who plays Baru’s character in the film, is the son of Vinod Khanna, a film actor who was also a BJP lawmaker.

Kher told that he is not ready to share his political views, “because whatever I say will not satisfy those who raise objections.”

The timings of the release of the film are still not confirmed because of the suspicions and the stir this movie has created before election.
