Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday criticized Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials for not taking action in the verification of degrees held by pilots and cabin crew members.
Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar led a three-member bench and took to the case of PIA where allegations were put that 498 pilots or crew members do not hold degree. Degrees of 12 pilots were identified as Fake when the investigation process began.
Deputy attorney general informed that committee will take actions against fake degree holders soon. PIA officials told that fake degree holder’s license has been suspended.
Out of the total crew of 1864 in PIA, 73 degrees came out to be fake and as many as 143 degrees are still in the process of verification.
Chief Justice interrogated about the inquiry to which PIA officials said that employees have been obtaining stay order to prevent themselves from investigation.
Court called upon CAA, PIA and heads of universities that are unable to verify the degrees. Chief Justice did not like the performance of CAA and PIA in the verification process
