U.S. sanctions are putting unequalled pressure on Iranians while “first class idiots” are running Washington’s policy, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei commented on Wednesday.
U.S President Donald Trump last year stop following an International pact and was bent upon to pressurize Iran’s nuclear program and re-imposed sanctions intended to lower down Tehran’s oil exports, end its missile program and lessen its regional influence.
These measures led Iran to have hard time of its once-improving economy.
“The sanctions do put pressure on the country and the people,” Khamenei said, according to his website that had a part of his speech that he delivered in Tehran to commemorate an event from the 1979 revolution.
“The Americans happily say that these sanctions are unprecedented in history. Yes, they’re unprecedented. And the defeat that the Americans will face will be unprecedented, God willing,” he added.
Khamenei lashed U.S. officials’ approach to Iran as not rationale, and remarked: “They are first-class idiots.”
Iran’s economy recently faced backlash with the rial fluctuating and value depreciating, which resulted in the massive poverty for ordinary people.
Sporadic outburst was inevitable during the economic unrest by truck drivers, farmers, workers, merchants and teachers, occasionally resulting in violent confrontations with law enforcement forces.
