Heavy fog engulfs plains of Punjab, limits visibility

Lahore: Heavy fog along with the wave of cold has engulfed Lahore on Friday morning restricting visibility limit in most parts of Punjab making difficulty highway conditions.

Intense fog has taken over the whole province of the Punjab including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad and Bahawalpur divisions with the visibility limit less than 200 meters. This has caused extreme difficulty in travelling especially on the National Highway and the motorways difficult.

The visibility has been erduced to 50 to 200 meters between Faisalabad and Gojra while the visibility between Kot Momin and Thokar Niaz Baig ranges from 50- to 500 meters.

The fog has also taken over  Kasur, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar,Manga Mandi, Patoki, Okara, Sahiwal and Cheechawatani and Shorkot. The foggy conditions have disturbed the traffic, routine life and infrastructure.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has given prediction that light showers might occur in the various parts of the country from December 09 to 13. Forecast of rainfall and snowfall has also surfaced at various places.

Motorway is blocked and flights are delayed or cancelled due to poor visibility. Experts say that it is likely to stay for a week.
