Railways to lay new Karachi-Peshawar track for fast trains: Sheikh Rasheed

Islamabad: Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed announced on Wednesday that a new network of over 1700 kilometres will be laid between Karachi and Peshawar.

While talking to media after launching the operation Theatre at Railways Hospital Rawalpindi. Sheikh Rasheed claimed that the travel time between Karachi and Rawalpindi will be 8 hours less. The fast trains are expected to run at up to 1600 kilometres per hour.

The distance between the Rawalpindi and Lahore will be covered in less than three hours.

He additionally said that Wi-Fi services will also be provided in all the railway stations across the whole country. He additionally announced the launch of Rehman Baba Express on 23rd of this month and the fare ticket will be Rs 1350.

Minister also promised to expand railway profit to 10 billion in just one year. He said that railway employees will be taken care off and the welfare project will be launched for them.

“Pakistan is a peace loving country and desirous of peace in the entire region as well,” he said.

Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed also invited and welcomed India to join the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
