Shehbaz Sharif sent to jail on judicial remand in the Ashiana Iqbal case

Former Punjab chief minister and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif presented before an accountability court today and sent to jail on judicial remand on Thursday in the Ashiana Iqbal Housing case.

Shehbaz’s lawyers argued that NAB keepsrequesting for his physical remand to probe him on one point but they fail to find out anything every single time. The judge rejected NAB’s request this time and sent Shehbaz to jail instead.

Shehbaz can apply for bail in the Lahore High Court. During the hearing PML-N workers sparked skirmishes with the police deployed for the security. Masses urged them to remove hindrances that were placed to block the roads.

The PML-N has directed its workers to accumulate in front of the court and the police contingents have been heavily appointed to avoid skirmishes and delay in hearing. Police have blocked the road by placing container around the court.

Shehbaz was presented in front of the court on November 8 after  his 7-day remand came to an end. NAB Requested that his grant be extended till Dec 6.

He is in NAB’s custody since his arrest on October 5 when he was invited to office to hear Clean water Company case and was arrested in Aashiana Housing Scandal.
