The United States’ ambassador for Afghanistan reconciliation, Zalmay Khalilzad landed in Islamabad on Tuesday Morning.
Zalmay Khalilzad is likely to facilitate peace making process smooth in Afghanistan. He will have meetings with Pakistani officials regarding the peace process implementation.
His visit is not only limited to Pakistan, he will travel and conduct meetings with officials in Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Belgium, UAE and Qatar.
The US ambassador will meet Afghani President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Abdullah and other government officials to coordinate and make serious efforts to bring Taliban on negotiation table.
Imran khan on Monday informed about receiving letter from US President Donald Trump in which he sought help from Pakistan to accelerate peace process in Afghanistan.
President Trump recently admitted that the Afghan War and attacks by US troops had costed both US and Pakistan and admired the role played by Pakistan to fight terrorism. He further said that new partnership must begin between US and Pakistan where opportunities of collaborating will be considered for the interest of both countries.
He said that stability in Afghanistan is very important for the regional development and US economy and relations with the Pakistan.
