ISLAMABAD: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) confirmed a total of 130 deaths in the last 3 days due to heavy rains, snowfall across the country and they fear an increase in casualties.
Due to heavy rains, land sliding and snowfall in Hazara Division, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Malakand Division were closed, other highways and roads in Chitral province are closed and disconnected from other parts, local media reported.
Meanwhile, 80 people were killed in Azad Kashmir due to poor weather conditions, while in Balochistan province, rains, snowfall killed 50 people and injured 11, according to the NDMA report.
NDMA says 45 people were injured and 35 houses were damaged in various accidents due to rainfall and snowfall across the country.
It should be noted that heavy snowfall continues in the northern and western parts of the country.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, while tweeting on the social networking site, said that he had immediately directed the NDMA, Army and federal ministers to cooperate with the people of AJK.
The severe snowfalls and landslides in AJK have caused misery & deaths. I have asked the NDMA, the military & all our federal ministers to immediately provide all humanitarian assistance on an emergency footing to the affected people in AJK.
