Islamabad: Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told that Pakistan Railways (PR) earned Rs150 mn from the 20 new trains within 100 days.
Federal Railway Minister Sheikh rasheed Ahmed informed National assembly through a written reply that Pakisatn railway prices increased due to its increased deficit. Deficit was increasing due to rise in the salaries and its employees.
While answering to a query during ‘Question Hour’ in the house, he said PR is providing 50% discount to citizens above 65 years of age, disabled persons and students.
Travelling facilities to senior citizens above 75 years include free tickets by Pakistan Railways. The minister informed that PR had restored 52 kilometer track.
Ministry told that 1682 Km long double track from Karachi to Peshawar was to improve its life and performance.
Minister for Pakistan Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed in his New Year’s resolution, on January 1, vowed that he will launch 20 new trains and widen the network, facilitating passengers in 2019.
In his video message he mentioned that railway employees who are not performing their duties honestly will be sent to home.
“The railway is the means of transport for the poor. We will facilities the poor,” he said.
