Egypt unveils biggest ancient coffin find in over a century, Archaeologists discover 30 ancient coffins with mummies inside.
The wooden coffins include mummies of men, women and children, and when unearthed were laid on two levels, Antiquity Minister Khalid Al Anani said at a press conference in Luxor.
“This is the first treasure of human coffins to be fully discovered since the end of the 19th century,” he said. The 3,000-year-old decorated coffins were found by Egyptian archaeologists, Al Anani said.
“We can look at the wooden coffins; still sealed and in a perfect shape of preservation,” Mostafa Waziri, the secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, told reporters.
El-Anany said Egypt will reveal more major discoveries soon as the country hopes to revive its vital tourism industry.
