Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar stated on Thursday that problems faced by the country could not be solved until, population bomb is not addressed.
“Only [awareness] advertisements cannot fix the problem,” Chief justice commented while hearing proceedings of the case. “Burgeoning population is even a bigger issue than the construction of dams. The government was supposed to furnish an action plan in this regard, but it didn’t do so.”
Attorney General informed the court during the hearing that Population awareness campaigns are going on countrywide and practical results would need time.,
To which CJP replied: “You do not have a definite plan. We are here to highlight the responsibilities of the government.”
Hearing of the case was dismissed and the next time court will be set up on January 14.
On November 20, Federal government and the provincial government have taken a decision to build a force to keep the population growth minimum.
CJP took serious notice of the unchecked population of the country and referred that government must make proper implementable actions and this issue must be seriously addressed.
As a result, a committee was formulated and policies were drafted to defuse the population bomb.
