After 40 years in Iran, female fans will go to the stadium for the first time to watch live matches of football.
According to Foreign news agency, after the 1979 revolution in Iran, it will be the first time for women to go to the stadium and watch live men’s football matches. Last month, Iran allowed female fans to enter the stadium for the Football World Cup qualifier in October.
The Iranian government made this decision at a time when FIFA threatened serious consequences for preventing women from entering the stadium in the 2022 World Cup qualifier and delayed Tehran to take a decision until Saturday. In addition, getting permission to watch matches at the stadium is also the result of women’s rights activists’ struggles.
After the women are allowed to watch the match, the first match will be held on October 10 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, in which complete arrangements have been made for the participation of female fans. Since selling tickets has been started all girls made their way to stadium.
According to the report, 3 to 5 thousand seats have been allocated for women in the 80,000 seats in the stadium. Besides this, security arrangements have been made for them. Women who buy tickets to watch the match said that they are very happy with the move as they will now be able to watch their favorite teams freely.
