ISLAMABAD: A written order of hearing of the appeal against Nawaz Sharif’s sentence has been issued in Al-Azizia reference. Islamabad High Court Justices Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani issued a written order stating that Nawaz Sharif made various requests to review the additional evidence during the appeal.
In the court order, Nawaz Sharif’s miscellaneous plea regarding Judge Video Scandal has been declared as hearsay and NAB has been issued notice and directed to submit reply within 14 days. The written order states that the parties have obtained copies of the case paper box. The case will be fixed for hearing after two more weeks.
Back in December 2018, Judge Arshad Malik convicts Nawaz Sharif in Al Azizia reference and acquits him in Flagship Investment reference. Mian Nawaz Sharif has been sentenced to prison for seven years.
In 2017, the National Accountability Bureau files three references against Nawaz Sharif and his family. The references include the Sharif family’s Avenfield properties in London, the Al Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metal Company, Jeddah Saudi Arabia, and more than 15 other companies owned by the Nawaz family.
