Waqas Shah murder Case – Anti-terrorism Court sentences MQM’s worker to death

KARACHI: A worker of the sector in charge  Muttahida Qaumi Movement Syed Asif Ali has been punish to death by Anti-terrorism Court – IX (ATC) for the murder of MQM party activist Syed Waqas Shah.

Syed Asif Ali was also slammed with a Rs 500,000 fine as a compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased by the Anti-terrorism Court – IX (ATC) judge Farman Ali Kanasro, along with a seven-year Jail sentence and Rs 50,000 fine for the possession of illegal weapon.

According to source The execution of the capital punishment will be carried out after the final approval of the (SHC) Sindh High Court.

The conviction is mainly based on the evidence of two eyewitnesses, both are Rangers officials, who had identified the accused before a magistrate during an identification parade and also deposed against him before the trial court.

The court reserved on 1 July 2016 its judgement in the case pertaining to the murder of Shah till 1 Aug 2016.

Syed Asif Ali was charged with killing MQM worker syed Waqas Shah during a pre-dawn raid carried out by Sindh Rangers at the MQM party’s headquarters Nine Zero karachi  in March last year.

According to a Rangers’ officials Syed Asif Ali then shot Waqas an MQM office bearer who stood behind him, when shah saw an opportune moment.

Syed Asif Ali and his associates then gathered media reporter  near Waqas Shah’s body and started the propaganda against Sindh Ranger , that he was shot dead by Rangers, the statement added.
