Army Bill passed in National Assembly: who oppose it?

ISLAMABAD: A bill to amend the Army Act has been approved in the National Assembly. No party or member of the Assembly opposes the bill, however, Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) and FATA members walkout from the assembly and record their protest against Army Act bill. 

Zahid Akram Durrani, Shahida Akhtar Ali, Aaliyah Kamran, Maulana Jamal-ud-din, Moulana Sla-ud-din, Maulana Anwar, Maulana Abdul-Wassy, Mufti Abdul Shakoor, Moulana Kamal-ud-Din, Moulana Asad Mehmood,  Agha Mahmood Shah and Qazi Asmatullah are among those who walkout from the National Assembly.

At the beginning of the meeting, Defense Minister Pervez Khattak requested the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) to withdraw the proposals they had given so that a consensus could be reached on the amendment bills on which the PPP would withdraw its recommendations.

Prior to the NA meeting, a delegation of PML-N met Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence in Islamabad. The delegation comprising Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Rana Sanaullah, Rana Tanveer and Murtaza Javed Abbasi.

They tried to convince Maulana on Army Chief Extension Amendment Bill but he persisted in voting against it. 

It should be noted that the National Assembly today passed the bill for amending the Army Act 1952 by majority opinion. Prime Minister Imran Khan also attended the meeting.
