Cell phone service to start in Gilgit-Baltistan distant areas.

Gilgit: Special Communication Organization (SCO) has started work on the launch of mobile phone service in distant areas of Gilgit-Baltistan. This also included the area along Karakoram Highway and towards Khunjerab Pass. 

Details provided by SCO company commander Saqib Iqbal said that this project is just a fraction of actual development. This mobile set up is possible if almost 125 mobile towers are installed in that area to give maximum coverage in all districts of gilgit-Baltistan.

He further told that until now company has installed seven areas in the gilgit and phone service is available there.

He also disclosed that company will want to offer 3G and 4G internet service across the whole area under this project.

He said that this company will be keeping in mind the basic needs of the people and since this is a tourist attraction we need to cater their needs as well.
