Islamabad: Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur informed that consultations are going on to empower Gilgit-Baltistan and suggestions would be presented in the cabinet soon.
“Steps are being taken for constitutional rights of Gilgit-Baltistan in the light of Supreme Court’s decision,” he stated while talking to Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Fida Muhammad Nashad in Islamabad.
Development projects relating to the province came under discussion in various sectors in the meeting.
Multiple projects were reviewed to link Gilgit-Baltistan with Azad Kashmir and to open highways in all the seasons.
Ali Amin Gandapur expressed that decentralization of powers was part of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s manifesto and they will make sure that functioning is smooth pertaining to the affairs and resolution of problems being faced by general public of Gilgit-Baltistan.
He also told that government is taking huge steps to promote the tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan.
While talking about the construction of Gilgit-Skardu road he said that it will be completed in time. He further said that Pakistan International Airline (PIA) authorities would be asked to review and reduce fares on Islamabad-Skardu route.
“The energy projects in the region are very imperative and thousands of megawatt electricity can be generated from them,” the minister stated.
