Court displeased over Anwar Majeed’s absence in Sugar mills case

Anwar Majeed

Karachi: A court on Tuesday expressed displeasure over Anwar Majeed not showing up for the court proceedings in the sugar mills case.

During the hearing, the court interrogated lawyer and jail officials about Anwar Majeed, head of OMNI group of companies not showing up on court. They said, “He is admitted to the hospital due to cardiac problem and we have brought the medical certificate.”

Judge commented that this is the regular medical certificate that Doctor has sent and lawyers are showing as an evidence. Court inquired about the doctor who issued this certificate.

Majeed’s lawyer told court that his client is heart patient. Court understood this since every fourth person is heart patient in Pakistan.  He further said that a patient is discharged within a week after surgery.

The lawyer further told the sending him to jail weakened his health and aggravated his health issues.

Judge questioned about Anwar Majeed’s long admission in the hospital and directed that he should be present in the next hearing that is scheduled on December 6, 2018.
