On Tuesday, October 29, 2019, The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has kept its decision on the postponement of former Prime Minister (PM) Mian Nawaz Sharif’s seven-year jail verdict in the Al-Azizia case.
The request, trailed by Shahbaz Sharif, says that the verdict should be deferred on medical grounds.
Nawaz Sharif, who was finishing his decree at Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail, is now looking for treatment at Lahore’s Services Hospital. His doctors say his platelet count is disapprovingly low. He was shifted to the hospital from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) custody on Monday night.
A court had imprisoned him into the bureau’s custody for the inquiry in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. On Friday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) accepted Former PM’s bail in the case.
During the court measures, the NAB did not raise any opposition to Nawaz being settled restricted bail in the case. The court can give its decision grounded on the rules set up the Supreme Court (SC), said the NAB prosecutor. Adding that the court, however, should provide a timeframe for the postponement of the verdict.
National Accountability Bureau has disparate Nawaz’s request to be preserved out of the country. “Not a single doctor has said that Nawaz can’t be cured in Pakistan,” the prosecutor told the court.
Nawaz Sharif was imprisoned by an accountability court on December 24, 2018, and condemned to seven years in jail and a huge fine of $25 million.
