London: Former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has issued important instructions to the party on the Army Act Amendment Bill, approved to extend the term of Army Chief.
After his departure to London, Nawaz Sharif issued written instructions to Khawaja Asif and said that important bills should not be passed in 24 or 48 hours, so the bill should be presented in the National Assembly today and referred to the Standing Committee for further checks and balance.
NS said that Army Act Amendment Bill is a very important bill a timeframe should be adopted to approve this bill.
He said that Parliament should not look like a rubber stamp to pass such an important bill, do not rush and bulldoze procedures, Nawaz said.
He added that recommendations for the members of the Standing Committee should be formulated, the Standing Committee should consider the bill on January 7 and 8 January and submit the report to the National Assembly.
The former Prime Minister said that on January 13, the Senate should send the bill to its Standing Committee so that it can consider it.
He further said that all political parties should call their parliamentary session and review the bill.
It should be noted that the Legislature is in the process of extending the term of Chief of Army Staff and the PML-N has declared unconditional support for amending the Army Act.
