Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will hear the reference of the disqualification of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Jan 10.
Khurram Sher Zaman, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Khurram Sher Zaman file for the petition and has left for Islamabad to appear before the commission for the initial hearing of his request. During the preliminary hearing Election commission will likely decide on the maintainability of the plea.
PTI leader from Sindh said the former president from Sindh and his helping hands mus get ready to face disqualification. “The disqualification over concealing assets is the fate of Sindh’s godfather,” he said.
The PTI lawmaker had entered the petition in the ECP blaming Zardari of not showing his full assets. He further said that the PPP leader posses an apartment in Belaire Condominiums located at 524 East 72nd Street in New York but did not showed it in papers of nomination for the 2018 general elections.
“Zardari under the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Rules of the Election Commission of Pakistan, as per past precedent, should be disqualified from holding public office under Article 62 (1)(f), as in my opinion he ceases to be truthful and sagacious,” informed the ECP.
PPP law maker therefore requested The Election Commission of Pakistan to disqualify him and and urge him to leave the seat as the member of the National Assembly.
