Google glitch shows incorrect Pakistani rupee value against US dollar

Karachi: In a technical fault that remained undetected for a few hours,the online currency converter on Google on Tuesday night showed a fake value that was immensely appreciated against the US dollar price, leaving people shocked.

It was observed that when people searched for currency conversion rate to US dollar found that PKR at 76, instead of its actual Rs 139, on the Google. The Google converter showed extraordinary unrealistic and appreciated value of Pakistani rupee against the price of 1 US Dollar equal to Rs 76.25, price of one Euro equal to Rs 87.02 and price of one British Pound equal to Rs 98.15.

In real the values of Rupee against all these currencies are 1 USD to PKR is 139.20, GBP to PKR is 180.00 and Euro to PKR is 160.50. The fault was looked into soon after the glitch got viral in Twitter.

 

The Google disclaimer has already said, “Google cannot guarantee the accuracy of the exchange rates displayed. You should confirm current rates before making any transactions that could be affected by changes in the exchange rates.”

Pakistanis took Social media to storm and expressed surprise, posted memes and inquire reasons of this overnight currency surge.

When you see 1$=76 rupee on google but deep inside you know it’s fake

In a historic surge, the value of the dollar surged by Rs 8 in the last year on Nov 20, which wasn’t a glitch sadly.
