The government placed the names of 172 people, being probed in a fake accounts case in haste, said Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi, while speaking on the floor of National Assembly commented that Govt will put off the names of the people from ECL list once Supreme Court announces detailed verdict.
On December 31, the Supreme Court interrogated the government that why they placed the names of these people on the no-fly list without SC approval.
In the list of politicians there was also a name of Sindh, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah’s name and Co-chairman PPP Boilawal Bhutto Zardari, to which SC showed concerns.
The court said that if it was investigation team that said to add the names of people on ECL then govt should have waited for the decision from the Supreme Court. The top judge called for the complete records of the 172 names placed on the ECL.
Qureshi further explained that chief Justice never asked name to be removed from the list instead he urged to review the list of 172 people.
“We will review the recommendations of the chief justice,” said the foreign minister.
Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi commented that the least the government could do was remove Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s name from blacklist.
