Govt to soon bring up ‘Journalists Protection Bill’ in National Assembly: Fawad

Karachi: Information Minister Chaudhary Fawad Hussain mentioned on Tuesday that government will soon come up with a ‘Journalists Protection Bill’ in the National Assembly to ensure security of working journalists.

“Health cards will also be issued to journalists, enabling them to avail medical facilities up to 0.5 million rupees in case of any emergency,” Chaudhry Fawad stated, during an award ceremony in Karachi, while expressing his earnest concerns negligence of media houses towards the rights of the journalists.

Minister also told that government will keep all its advertising policies transparent and all the record of the advertisement given to various media agencies on the Public Information Department website.

Chaudhry Fawad further said that future war would be over “Ideas” and only a superior and profitable idea would win this war.

Government cannot put censorship since technology compasses any such regard. “This is the last phase of censorship.” However, no one should be permitted to do character assassination.

Information minister said 900 registered newspapers will be given advertisements and the dummy newspapers will not be awarded anything.

While advising new comer journalists he said that only the can win the jobs and bag success through new and unique ideas.
