Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear appeal today (Monday), filed by deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif against his jail term in Al-Azizia Steel Mills case.
A two-member Judges that comprised of Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar will hear Sharif’s request on Jan 28.
The plea was put forward the legal team of Nawaz Sharif, Haris Khawaj in the Islamabad High Court on the basis of poor health condition of the convicted PM
The NAB, accountability court and superintendent of Kot Lakhpat jail will be presented as the correspondents in the court.
the ousted PM requested that he should be bailed out based on his poor health condition against a surety bonds.
The petition reads: “Sharif could not go under through medical examination due to his imprisonment in Al Azizia reference case”.
The accountability court judge Muhammad Arshad Malik sentenced Sharif seven years of imprisonment and and a huge fine on December 24 in the Al-Azizia reference case.
Before this he was acquitted in Avenfiled reference and was forced to leave his office due to Panama Case.
He was arrested by NAB soon after the verdict was announced by the accountability court.
NAB put forward two appeals in the IHC, challenging the accountability court verdict against the Nawaz in the Al-Azizia and Flagship Investment references against Sharif.
