MUMBAI: While naming the United Nations (UN) visit of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi as biggest disappointment, the Indian media has stated that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is fully celebrating the tour in spite of not having secured the much-touted trade deal with the United State (US). Also, the issue of Kashmir became more difficult between him and United State President Donald Trump.
According to the article published by Indian newspapers The Print, Narendra Modi scored clear nil in the most argumentative issue of trade during his week-long trip to America. Trade has certainly become an inevitable hesitant block in the relationship, even as both sides continue to ferociously fight out trade arguments at the World Trade Organization (WTO).
India was left high and dry as none of the American multinationals that met Modi yet committed to any big-ticket investment.
“On the issue of Kashmir, too, Prime Minister Modi could not excerpt much from his “friend” Trump. While Trump continued the pomposity of mediating the Kashmir issue between New Delhi and Islamabad unabashedly, the United State also claimed “rapid action” in easing restrictions in Jammu Kashmir, and urged India to hold elections at the earliest opportunity.”
