Iraq to join China’s Belt and Road project, Adel Abdel Mahdi


BEIJING: Adel Abdel Mahdi made the announcement that Iraq will join the “Belt and Road” project of China. He had a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Belt and Road project is gigantic worldwide network of ports, railways, roads and industrial parks throughout Asia, Middle East and Europe.

He said, “We are grateful to China for their support to Iraq as we have gone through the war.” He further added that we are willing to work together in One Belt, One Road project. According to sources the last year trade between China and Iraq was more than $30 billion.

Chinese president Xi Jinping said that the two countries will cooperate in oil and gas projects. China would like a new startup to build bilateral relations with Iraq. He added that it will help to push forward the strategic partnership of Iraq and China.
