Justice Mamoon Rashid takes Oath as new chief justice of LHC


LAHORE: Justice Mamoon Rasheed has taken oath as the 49th Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court.

Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar administered the oath of office to Justice Mamoon Rashid at a ceremony held in the provincial capital.

Justice Mamoon Rasheed Sheikh took oath after his predecessor Justice Sardar Mohammad Shamim Ahmed Khan on December 31, 2019, and he will retire on March 18, 2020.

The Lahore High Court judges and officers, provincial ministers, attorney general for Pakistan, inspector general (IG) police Shoaib Dastgir, chief secretary Punjab, federal and provincial law officers were present on the occasion.

Besides, members of the Pakistan Bar Council, members of the Punjab Bar Council, officials of the Lahore High Court and the Lahore Bar Association were also present in the function.

Later, Justice Mamoon Rashid was welcomed upon arrival at the High Court and presented him with a bouquet, while the cavalry greeted him.
