Lahore: Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim sworn in as the new chief justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) at Governor House on Tuesday morning.
Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar operated the oath of office to the new chief justice of the Lahore high court.
Before him, Justice Muhammad Anwarul Haq retired as the chief justice of the LHC after he reached the age of retirement on Monday.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar recommended that senior judge of Lahore High Court Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan should be appointed as the new Judge of Lahore High Court.
Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan took oath as a Jude almost nine years ago on 19 February 2010.
A court reference was held on Monday to pay tribute to the retired Judge Muhamamd Anwar Ul Haq, Chief Justice and Justice Sardar Shamim were also present.
Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim while expressing his views at the reference applauded the services of Justice Anwarul Haq as the chief justice of the LHC.
