Lahore: The Punjab government on Tuesday made large-scale transfers and postings in the counter terrorism department (CTD) after the shocking Sahiwal incident.
Notification issued by Punjab’s Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), CTD chief Additional Inspector General (AIG) Roy Tahir was made officer on special duty (OSD).
While Rao Sardar was given additional charge of AIG CTD and the services of DIG Babar Sarfraz and Azhar Hameed have been given to the federal government, the notification reads.
Humayun Bashir Tarar was posted as DIG CTD, Ahmad Ishaq Jahangir was given additional charge of DIG operations Punjab. But DIG Zulfiqar Hameed was given extra charge of AIG operations.
Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat, while terming the Sahiwal encounter ‘100 percent correct’, had said that the initial probing by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) had revealed that Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) is responsible for killing innocent lives in Sahiwal.
Additional IGP of the CTD and the DIG Sahiwal were immediately dismissed according to the initial findings of the JIT report were immediately, while DIG and the SSP of CTD had been suspended.
