Lahore: The joint investigation team (JIT), formed on the orders of Supreme Court orders in Model Town case, has summoned former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah today (Monday).
The newly-formed JIT will interrogate Rana Sanaullah regarding the Model Town case.
The JIT was formed by Punjab Home Department on Jan 4 for the fresh investigation into the Model Town 2014 massacre where almost thirty people were killed.
Supreme Court of Pakistan had previously winded up a petition on Model Town case on December 5, soon after the govt assured that fresh JOT will be constituted to investigate the massacre from the scrap.
The bench of the accountability court was led by chief justice Mian Saqib Nisar who heard the case to decide whether the petition for the formation of new joint investigation team was possible.
The apex court on October 6 had taken a notice of request by Bisma Amjad, the daughter of Tanzila Amjad who was among the martyred Model Town open-firing incident.
On June 17, 2014, at least 14 people were murdered and 100 others injured when the police opened fire to scatter Pakistan Awami Tehreek protestors during an anti-encroachment operation outside the residence of PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri.
