Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, the largest country in South and Latin Americain population, said that despite the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the Brazilian public and local governments need to maintain a normal life, people will continue the daily routine.
President Jair Bolsonaro made the statement at a time when Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, two major cities in Brazil, have been locked down in view of the rapid spread of the Coronavirus.
Although there is a partial lockdown in Rio de Janeiro, a full lockdown has been implemented in the capital Sao Paulo and so far in Brazil, around 2300 people have been affected by Corona.
Corona’s victims include the media spokesperson for President Jair Bolsonaro, who also met with US President Donald Trump earlier this month, after which the US president had to undergo a test.
According to the British newspaper The Guardian, Jair Bolsonaro said in his address that the Coronavirus hs arrived in Brazil and that it will spread but that doesn’t mean we should lockdown and end the business.
In his address, he told the heads of local governments that they should not enforce lockdowns or curfews and maintain normal life routine even after the outbreak of Coronavirus.
In his address, the Brazilian president also claimed that his country would not have the situation like European country Italy because the climate in Latin America is unique, and he also criticized media reporting on the deaths in Italy.
