ISLAMABAD: On Monday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan has decided to invite former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the induction of the Kartarpur Corridor.
Shah Mahmood said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had special interest in the development. The minister, while mitigating the decision, said Sikhism was Singh’s religion and that he was a characteristic of the Sikh community.
FM Shah Mahmood said in the message, “As Foreign Minister of Pakistan, I am prolonging an invitation to former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to attend the induction ceremony.”
Qureshi further said that Pakistan would send a written invitation as well to the former Indian prime minister.
FM Qureshi also prolonged an invitation to the Sikh community to attend the induction, which will be held during the revels of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.
