Pakistani senator among BBC’s 100 women of 2018

Something to be proud of! List of hundred women of BBC is out for the year 2018 and Pakistani  Senator Krishna Kumari is also among those hundred influential women.

British broadcasting organization publishes an annual list of 100 women who possess influential personality. This year, BBC choose 32 years-old Hindu lawmaker Krishna from an underprivileged area of Pakistan. Krishna belonged to Thar and is honored to have listed in the international honor list.

Krishna Kumari is a Hindu women who belonged to the lowest caste of Hindu cast hierarchy and was elected as a Senate for the first time in Pakistan.

This rare victory was celebrated as an optimistic change in Pakistan as it was the first time the minorities entered the senate.

Krishna and her family were held for three year in Tharparkar and had to do labour extensively of a landlord in Umerkot. They were later freed during a police raid.

She received her basic education from Umerkot district and continued her studies in Mirpurkhas. She got married at a very young age of 16. She did masters in Sociology after her marriage.

She has lately been doing social work for the people of Tharparkar.
