PESCO recovers thousands from defaulters in Peshawar

Peshawar: Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) recovered Rs 88, 509 from defaulters during an action in various areas of Peshawar and Banu on Thursday.

PESCO’s spokesperson briefed media about the electricity theft being dealt in the Peshawar. He told that PEPCO officials are raiding different areas of the Peshawar and Bannu of Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa during this drive and arresting the electricity thieves.

He informed that at least 51 electrical connections were either disconnected or cut down because electric theft charges were registered against them.

Over the non-payment of bills, electricity was cut off for the 18 distribution transformers. He said that defaulters are being arrested or imposed heavy fine. during this theft drive around 88,500 rupees have been recovered.

Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) and the provincial management arrested around 109 people in Peshawar over the charges of stealing electricity or not paying due charges.

Reporting centers have already been formed in KPK and effective supervision and monitoring will reduce power thefts across the province.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has already said that rise in electricity price is due to power theft and power loss which should be minimized at immediate notice to reduce electricity prices and burden on the people.
