Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed has given remarks during the hearing of the PIA privatization deficit case, that the employees holding fake degrees will be removed from the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) one by one and will not allow anyone to shut down the state institution.
During the hearing of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) privatization deficit case in the Supreme Court, national airline lawyer Naeem Bukhari and former Assistant Special Shujaat Azam’s lawyer appeared.
During the hearing, strong remarks came from Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and said that fake degree cases will be heard here and the employees who hold fake degrees will be removed one by one.
The Chief Justice remarked that PIA employees held degrees from Al Khair University, which sells academic credentials.
At the same time, he also remarked that the fake-degree piolets were operating aircraft, on which the lawyer PIA said that the Sindh High Court had stopped the current MD, Arshad Mehmood from working.
It may be recalled that on December 31, 2019, the Sindh High Court had barred Air Marshal Arshad Malik, the chief executive officer of the national airline, from recruitment and transfer of new recruits to the company.
The court later adjourned the case for 4 weeks, seeking details on the fake degrees in PIA employees.
It may be recalled that in the year 2018, the then Chief Justice Saqib Nisar took a suo moto notice of fake degrees recruitments in the PIA.
Subsequently, the PIA has so far fired 467 staff members while more than 201 former employees have withdrawn orders from the courts against their dismissal.
It should be noted here that 16 pilots were also included in the dismissal staff.
