Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit the affected areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir today after severe cold, rain and snowfall.
After heavy rains and snowfall across the country, the number of people killed by snowstorms and landsliding has risen to 150 and the highest number of casualties were recorded in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to media, authorities informed that most of the areas of the valley are not yet accessible due to severe snowfall, which is expected to increase casualties, while meteorologists have predicted another round of snowfall from Friday.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Mathar Riaz Rana confirmed that the Prime Minister is expected to arrive in the Neelam Valley in the afternoon where he will be given a detailed briefing on the overall situation of the valley.
Taking notice of the deteriorating situation in the Neelam Valley on Tuesday, the Prime Minister assured the citizens in a message on social networking website Twitter that the government had taken notice of the situation and provided emergency relief to the public.
The severe snowfalls and landslides in AJK have caused misery & deaths. I have asked the NDMA, the military & all our federal ministers to immediately provide all humanitarian assistance on an emergency footing to the affected people in AJK.

So far, a total of 70 people have died in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, while 20 people in Balochistan and 7 other districts of Punjab including Sialkot have lost their lives.
Several roads and highways were closed in Jammu and Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan due to heavy rainfall and landsliding.
