Islamabad: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) sought production orders for Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif and party leader Khawaja Saad Rafique to allow them, to attend the upcoming session of the lower house of Parliament.
Sources informed that PML-N leaders Rana Sanaullah and Marriam Aurangzeb submitted a request to National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser and urged him to issue production orders for both party leaders and make sure they attend the session.
They urged that Shehbaz Sharif is the Opposition leader of the House and Saad Rafique is one important member of National Assembly whose presence is very important.
President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi on Jan 8 has called a session of the National Assembly on Jan 14 at 4:00 in the Parliament House. The president could call the session in accordance with the clause (1) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, according to a statement by the National Assembly Secretariat.
Shehbaz Sharif is presently in Prime Minister’s Enclave that was previously declared sub-jail by the accountability court. He is on judicial remand in a case relating to the Ashiana Iqbal Housing scheme scam.
On the other hand, erstwhile railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique along with his brother Salman Rafique is also in NAB custody pertaining to the Paragon Housing Society scam.
