Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday submitted a constitutional amendment bill in the National Assembly for the making of “Bahawalpur and South Punjab provinces”.
While talking to the journalists along with former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and PML-N spokesperson Marriyam Aurangzeb, Ahsan Iqbal said the PML-N has made another contribution in the history of Pakistan by submitting the constitutional amendment bill in the National Assembly for the formation of South Punjab and Bahawalpur provinces.
On behalf of all the party leaders he expressed that dull support will be given to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in the formation of South Punjab province.
“If the government is serious on the matter of creating the province, then the opposition will unconditionally second it,” he said.
Former minister for Interior said that he had promised people for the formation of the new provinces according to their wish “If the incumbent government is sincere in its claim then it should move the bill forward for formation of the aforesaid provinces.”
National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisersaid on January 16 that measures are being taken to give South Punjab a status of a province.“The people of South Punjab would be soon given good tidings.”
