ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan ordered all national highways to be opened to eliminate barriers to supply of goods and to ensure supply of food products from factories, farms to the market.
He reiterated the promise of providing food to daily wage earners and poor people at the doorstep saying it was being delivered by an army of young volunteers.
Imran Khan made these orders during a meeting of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) core committee in the Prime Minister’s House.
Assistant Prime Minister’s Special Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said during a press conference after the meeting that “the Core Committee will be informed that transport of 80% of the goods is not on the roads due to numerous government restrictions and the Prime Minister orders to restore the transport of goods across the country.”
She said that “the Prime Minister expressed concern over the food shortage and ordered strict action against stockholders, black marketers”.
She said that the Prime Minister had consulted with the provinces and soon he would announce a road map regarding the supply of essential commodities across the country.
