ISLAMABAD: PTV managing Director removed over a typographical error during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s live speech from Beijing.
Prime Minister’s live speech was broadcasted by Pakistan Television Network that carried an incorrect spelling of Beijing. The clip was approximately 20 seconds large and was massively shared on social media. This was enough to draw Governments attention to their state channel.
Following this The Managing Director of PTV col. (retd) Hassan Immad Mohammadi was removed from the office.
He was appointed as MD few weeks earlier. The notification of his removal did not mention the reason of his removal.
Fawad Chaudhry Minister for Information approved the decision of removing him from office.
The embarrassment that is caused to Government is huge and already two of the members have been suspended.
Twitter handler of the PTV also confessed the mistake from management side.
