Islamabad: Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special delegation for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov summoned Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua at the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The meeting held between the two officials and the bilateral relations were discussed. Afghan peace process, regional security and International issues were also brought to table for the discussion , told Foreign Office spokesperson Faisal Vawda.
The foreign secretary and envoy Kabulov headed their sides during the high-profile delegation level talks. At the occasion, Russian envoy appreciate the role played by Pakistan during the talks between the two countries in making the peace between the two countries.
Kabulov has arrived in Islamabad today on a two-day official visit and is likely to meet important state officials.
It should be noted that Taliban representatives told last week that the United States representatives finally agreed over a draft peace deal and letting the US withdraw its troops from Afghanistan within 18 months of the agreement being signed.
This troops’ pullout is yet to be confirmed by US officials since no side has made any official statement about this fact. US Special Envoy for Afghanistan reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad went to Afghan capital Kabul to brief President Ashraf Ghani about the circumstances, diplomat said.
