A fugitive accused of allegedly provoking the murder of Pakistani social media star Qandeel Baloch is now in custody of Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies after being deported from Saudi Arabia via Interpol.
Muzaffar Iqbal was handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) of Pakistan on Wednesday, from where he was handed over to local police officials in Multan.
According to Arab News, The Interior Ministry’s Additional Secretary and Spokesman Abdul Aziz Uqaili confirmed the news.
Abdul Aziz Uqaili confirmed that Muzaffar Iqbal, who was returned from Saudi Arabia with the help of the Interpol National Center in Riyadh, is now imprisoned in Multan.
However, he declined to provide further details regarding the suspect’s arrest.
Qandeel Baloch was assassinated in July 2016 at his parents’ house in Muzaffargarh.
The murder of Qandeel in the name of ‘honour’ drew attention to the women killed by family members in Pakistan, forcing law enforcement to take action on the case and arrest the Qandeel Baloch killers.
