SC to hear NAB’s appeal pertaining to suspension of Sharif family’s sentences in the Avenfield case

The Supreme Court is hearing NAB’s appeal that was submitted against the suspension of the Sharif family’s sentence in the Avenfield reference on Monday.

Supreme’s Court larger bench will hear the case. The bench consists of Asif Saeed Khosa (Chief Justice of Pakistan to be) , Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel.

Deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was given sentence of 10 years, his daughter Maryam Nawaz for seven years and his daughter’s husband for 1 year. Their sentences were dismissed when they appealed that the till final verdict they need bail out.

On July 6, accountability court judge Mohammad Bashir sentenced the Sharif family to jail in the Avenfield case. The verdict was challenged in the Islamabad High Court and a two-member bench dismissed their sentences until the final verdict in the appeal comes out.

Nawaz is at present in Kot Lakhpat Jail, because he was convicted in Al Azizia Reference still mills case on December 24 and he was sentenced imprisonment for 7 years. His lawyers have challenged the verdict and have appealed that he should be bailed out until the final verdict is announced.
