Islamabad: The Supreme Court will hear a review petition on Jan 29 over the verdict that acquitted Aasia Bibi in a blasphemy case.
A three-member bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khan Khosa and comprises of Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel will be there in case proceedings.
On Oct 31, a Supreme Court bench led by former chief justice Mian Saqib Nisar put aside the conviction of Asia Bibi, a Christian woman who was accused of blasphemy. The 56-page long and detailed verdict rejected the Lahore High Court (LHC) verdict and ordered jail authorities to suspend her imprisonment.
As soon as the acquittal was announced, protests started across the country and continued for three days demanded that the acquittal be immediately reviewed.
Asia Bibi is a mother of five,she is on death rows since she was accused for blasphemy during an argument with three Muslim women in Sheikhupura.
