Shehbaz to preside PAC meeting today

Islamabad: Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif, will preside the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meeting today (Thursday).

Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has released the production orders of  Shehbaz to chair the PAC meeting. Former CM Punjab will stay at minister’s enclave due to his health issues. NAB has declared his residence as sub-jail.

Shehbaz Sharif led the first PAC meeting on Dec 28, 2018 where he decided that he will not chair any session where the previous government’s rule will be reviewed. During his first session, it was also decided that no officer who owns a rank less than 19 will give briefing to the meeting.

On the otehr hand, government has nominated the name of Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed as member of the PAC, his formal approval is still pending though.

While remarking on the govt decision to put Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, he said that it was a grave mistake.

The minister further said that, “those involved in committing the mother of all crimes have been appointed to hold others accountable”. There are no moral grounds and political insight in appointing Shehbaz as PAC chairman.

“I have headed eight ministries and currently I am the most senior parliamentarian,” he said and added that PPP and PML-N do not respect and care about legislation.
