Tennis: India’s Davis Cup match in Pakistan shifted to a neutral venue

All India Tennis Associaton(AITA) shifted upcoming Davis cup tie from Islamabad to a neutral venue stating that they have a security issue. The International Tennis Federation(ITF) gives a green signal to India Tennis Association’s request.

Pakistan Tennis Federation to decide whether they agree to play on the neutral venue or not as they have only five working days to make the decision.





The Asia/Oceania Group I tie, originally scheduled for Sept. 14-15 in Islamabad, but was postponed to November after the Indian federation raised questions about the security of players in Pakistan

Pakistan tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi said he is heartbroken and the ITF decision is very disappointing.

This is not the first time, Pakistan in past, was forced to change venue due to political and security instability.

The last time an Indian Tennis Team visit Pakistan was in 1964 for Davis Cup Tie.
