The forest fire in Sichuan province of China killed 19 people


At least 19 people, including 18 members of the fire extinguisher, were killed in an attempt to extinguish a fire in a forest in Sichuan province, China.

According to Chinese state media, the casualties include a guide for the firefighters.

The forest fire has now covered a thousand hectares of land.

More than 2,000 rescue workers and firefighting personnel were dispatched to control the fire. About 120 locals have been safely evacuated from the affected area and taken to safe areas.

The fire started at a farmhouse on Monday morning, but with the strong wind, flames soon spread to nearby mountains.

A year ago, a fire broke out in the area that killed 30 firefighters while trying to extinguish it.
