Sessions of the National Assembly and Senate were postponed today.
According to a statement issued by the National Assembly Secretariat, the schedule of the sessions of the National Assembly on January 4 was changed at 11 am, after which the meeting will now be held at 4 pm on Monday.
The statement said that the Speaker made changes to the schedule of the meeting under the powers assigned under sub-rule 2 of Rule 49 of the National Assembly’s procedure.
On the other hand, according to the aforesaid statement, the Senate meeting was adjourned at 3 pm on January 4 and now the meeting will be held on Monday 6 January at 4 pm.
It is thought that the Army Amendment Bill was to be tabled in the National Assembly and Senate on January 4, but now the bill is likely to be introduced on Monday.
It is to be remembered that a joint meeting of the National Assembly and the Senate Standing Committee on Defense has approved the Army Act Amendment Bill, which was opposed by Senator Mushtaq Khan of Jamaat-e-Islami.
